We travel to the Free State to play the Stars, they have also won both of their opening games so it will be a difficult one. They are coached by my former assistant from the national team Steve Komphela who has done a fine job with them.

The hole in our team left by the injury to Morgan Gould will for the moment remain open. The club cannot find a suitable replacement and the options offered are either too expensive or not better than we have. We are risking being too thin if we get more injuries but we  do not want to panic buy.

The flying start we have had has pleased everyone, but things change quickly so I am not getting carried away and I had to liven the players up in today’s session for being sloppy. We are on the right track but if we slow down we could get hit by a train!!

I thought that HIF gave a good showing, the other night but without playing fantastically Celtic seemed a bit too streetwise and physically stronger. Still with an early goal the extra pressure on Celtic would have been interesting. The tie was probably decided though by the lack of goals for HIF during their best period at Olympia.

My old club AIK have pushed the boat out with some interesting signings , that will certainly give Andreas Alm more options and AIK will certainly be under pressure from their fans to bring home a trophy or an adventure in Europe . Allsvenskan will be enhanced by the quality that they have recruited.

The league and National team here don’t seem to bo reading from the same page. In jan-feb when the African cup of Nation is  being staged in South Africa should be a  joint venture. The league however has put our game against Sundowns two days after the final. Obviously they are not as confident as everyone else! If they ever pull together down here they could be frightening until then it will, I am afraid  be the same procedure as last year.

Enjoy your football and your wonderful country.

Yours in Sport,
Stuart
